Showing an understanding of the codes and conventions of promotional and corporate programming is crucial before planning our promo.
Looking at codes and conventions, legal issue, production practice and what a corporate and promotional video is, is the first part of research we need to do. In addition, research also includes looking at the structure of briefs, the negotiation process and opportunities that may arise within the project.
We must first find a client to make our corporate video for; this may be one the college has provided or a client that we may know of that we can contact to consider commissioning our videos. It is key that the client must be real and not hypothetical.
We should then go onto to mind mapping ideas, drafting scripts and creating a proposal, storyboard, shot list, shooting schedule, location report, risk assessment, budget and list of crew/cast for pre production. These should be first discussed in production meetings that should be recorded and blogged and any decisions made or changed should be frequently logged. We will also be given time slots to meet the client so that we can be creative, but follow the brief instructed to the client.
